Utah First Lego League

Dalton competed in the Utah First Lego League competition last Saturday. This is the first year that FLL has been in Carbon County and it's 2nd year in Utah. Eight local teams competed in three events that incorporated the FLL theme of “Food Factor.” The events included an examination of food safety, a presentation about FLL core values, and a robot competition that required teams to program their own Lego robots that accomplished missions on a tabletop course.

Dalton's team, The Rockin' Robots, took first overall and first in the theme project. They will move on to the state competition held at the University of Utah later this month. This was Dalton's least favorite part of the competition....performing a skit.
Dalton and his friend, Andrew, were the two main computer programmers for their robot. They spent many Saturday afternoons working on the project.
In past scrimmages they have scored really high (130s) on this part of the challenge. The robot wasn't cooperating on this day however and their highest score was a 98, putting them in 4th place for the robot challenge. Luckily this was only 1/4 of their total score and they were still able to pull out a win in the end.
